Speech-language Pathology

Since 2003, I have worked in hospital and skilled nursing settings as a speech therapist for Brighton Rehabilitation (formerly Mountain Land Rehabilitation).  I assess and screen inpatients for dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic impairments, dysarthria, and voice disorders.  My master's thesis at the University of Utah (2002) involved editing speech spectrography data to compare dysfluencies in digital speech samples from stutterers and non-stutterers before and after an intensive stuttering treatment program offered at the school.

National Certification and State Licensing:

Musical Theater

In 2013, I experienced the theatrical stage from behind a glow-in-the-dark baton as the Music Director for Upstage Theatre for Youth. My responsibilities included teaching all vocal parts in each musical number, playing piano or keyboard during rehearsals to assist in musical instruction to actors, providing feedback to actors regarding pitch, expressiveness, and musical interpretation, assisting to run auditions and make decisions to fill character roles, cueing musical accompaniment and interludes during rehearsals and performances, and directing music during rehearsals and performances.
